I see London I see France, I see....

Funny stuff about England!
In England during World War I, many German names and titles were changed and given more English-sounding names, including the royal family's from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor. Kaiser Wilhelm II countered this by jokingly saying that he was off to see a performance of 'The Merry Wives of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.'
Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England, but only in tropical fish stores!

The shortest war in history was between Zanzibar and England in 1896. Zanzibar surrendered after 38 minutes

Where did soccer originate? It is believed that the first recorded soccer game took place on a Shrove Tuesday in Derby, England, as part of a festival to celebrate the victory of English soldiers over Roman troops ( a.d. 217). By 1175 the annual Shrove Tuesday soccer game was a regular event.

Tony Blair is the first Prime Minister to have been born during The Queens reign. He was born in early May, 1953 - a month before the Coronation.

During the 1600's, England celebrated a day called "Mothering Sunday." Servants would go home to see their families, bringing cakes and sweets to their moms. This custom was called "going a-mothering". Each mother would recieve a simnel-cake (Latin for "fine flour) and mother's would give a blessing to their children.
